MARTIAN DEATH RAY

Where fear, terror, and the death ray rule the night.

The Island

In the beginning only a few believed.

Crusoe believed; he could not help himself for it was his theory in the end.

In fact he worked out its location: it sat on the map inside the RAM of the BRUTE below The Center.

For ten years he fed the BRUTE data on tides and temps and many things, and when he finished, the BRUTE rumbled three days before spitting forth its answer.

Delighted Crusoe published a thesis—one many believed, but few would ever read. And with time the world awarded him both fame and honor.

Yet amid the interviews and honors, no one – not Crusoe himself – bothered to see if the thing indeed sat at sea or only in the RAM of the BRUTE below The Center.
